Are notes on a send private?

No. A note is written on the blockchain with the payment, and anyone can read it.

Updated October 5, 2026

You can add a short note to a send, like "Dinner" or an invoice number. The note is stored on the blockchain with the transaction, so anyone who looks at it can read it.

  • Never put personal details, passwords or anything secret in a note.
  • Be careful with links in notes you receive. Morsel marks them, because links in notes can be scams.
